DVT is looking for a Microsoft DevOps Engineer to join our Cloud Practice on a 6 month client assignment in Cape Town.

This role focuses on helping a financial services client migrate from Azure DevOps Server (TFVC) to Git within Azure DevOps, while improving CI/CD practices and supporting .NET development teams. You will lead the migration from assessment through to implementation, stabilisation and handover.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess the current Azure DevOps and TFVC environment, including repositories, permissions and pipelines.

  • Plan and execute TFVC to Git migrations, including testing, rollout and post migration support.

  • Define Git branching, repository standards and release governance.

  • Build and modernise Azure Pipelines using YAML and reusable templates.

  • Improve automation, testing and deployment processes for .NET applications.

  • Mentor developers on Git, Azure Repos and Azure Pipelines best practices.

  • Produce migration documentation, runbooks and handover material.

  • Support security and quality improvements including secret management, code quality and security scanning.

Required Experience and Skills

  • 7+ years in DevOps, software delivery or Microsoft ALM engineering.

  • Strong Azure DevOps Server and/or Azure DevOps Services experience.

  • Strong knowledge of TFVC and proven experience migrating TFVC repositories to Git.

  • Hands-on experience with Azure Repos, Git workflows and branching strategies.

  • Strong Azure Pipelines experience, including YAML pipelines.

  • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills.

  • Practical experience supporting .NET / C# application builds and deployments.

  • Experience managing migration cutovers, validation and stakeholder communication.

  • Strong documentation and client facing consulting skills.

Advantageous

  • Azure DevOps Advanced Security, SonarQube, Snyk or similar tools.

  • Automated testing frameworks such as MSTest, xUnit or Postman/Newman.

  • Entra ID, Active Directory or hybrid identity environments.

  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries.

  • Terraform, Bicep, Docker, Kubernetes, AKS or broader Azure platform exposure.

  • ClickUp, Sentry or related tooling integrations.

Qualifications

  • Matric.

  • Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • Microsoft certification such as AZ-400, AZ-104 or equivalent.

  • Ability to support scheduled migration and cutover activities.

  • Available for a full time 6 month client engagement in Cape Town.

  • South African work authorisation.

Ideal Candidate

You are a hands-on Azure DevOps specialist with strong TFVC to Git migration experience. You can successfully deliver complex migrations, establish best practices, mentor development teams and improve CI/CD maturity while remaining focused on delivering practical business outcomes.
